Key Aims & Activities

Promote local history, heritage, and community identity
As a village with rich medieval history, Lavenham VIP offers a Visitor Information Point: maps, walking guides, local history information, souvenirs, books, postcards — helping both residents and visitors appreciate and support the village’s heritage.

Support local economy and small producers / artisans
Showcase and offer for sale products made in Lavenham and the surrounding area (crafts, local art, prints, books, souvenirs, etc.); profits help pay for running costs, and any surplus is reinvested for community benefit.

Support community connections and local groups
Provide a physical space where local clubs, associations, societies and groups can advertise events and notice-boards; helping promote local activity, participation, volunteering and social cohesion across age groups and interests.

Provide volunteering opportunities & encourage community participation
Run entirely by volunteers, giving residents a way to contribute to their community, build social links, and take part in running a village asset.

Offer essential services to villagers
Host an Outreach Post Office within the building to provide postal services to local residents, helping support those who might otherwise have limited access.

Overall Impact
Lavenham VIP works to maintain and strengthen village life: preserving and promoting heritage, supporting social connection, giving access to services and information, and supporting community resilience. The Hub helps ensure that both residents and visitors feel welcome, that local groups have visibility and support, and that the benefits of rural village life — heritage, community, connection — are preserved and shared.
